January 16, 2010 – Off the Beaten Path

AudreyImage1:00 pm. 32 degrees.

Today I gave my first talk on ‘Building Self Esteem Through Working & Playing in the Outdoors.’ The bookstore, Off the Beaten Path set up a booksigning from 1-2 where I did sell 3 books (not great, but could have been zero) so that was positive and had a group of three that stayed to watch the presentation. There was also an Audrey Rose fan that came down (Audrey Rose is a column I used to write in the local paper, but due to censorship issues I recently pulled it (www.SweetAudreyRose.com). Was nice to have some support. A few friends showed up after the talk, but all in all, despite a bit of fumbling over my index card prompters, I think it went fairly well.

One of the women there was interested in possibly having me come to Montana to talk, so that would be exciting. I dropped my book minimum to 10 books to go anywhere in the US to talk about dog sledding or self esteem for free!

Onward and upward. I have another talk for pre-school kids on dog sledding on Wednesday (I realized – more pictures, less talk, lots of jumping around and things go pretty well.)
