Alma Rose and I headed to Hayden Elementary School to give a talk about dog sledding and the Iditarod. After giving my talk to 3-5 year olds, where most of it was over their heads, I was a little nervous. Alma Rose had tons of energy until I put her harness on, which has the wonderful effect of calming her down.
Slight panic when my computer wouldn’t hook up to the projector and they couldn’t log into their computer and my jump drive said the presentation was too large for it. With minutes to spare we got it all worked out.
The kids filed in, said hi to Alma Rose and took their seats. They were everything a speaker could ask for. They were interested, they laughed, they paid attention, had lots of questions. Even though I was extremely nervous, they were fantastic! If only all my talks were that engaging!
As a reward, Alma Rose and I ran around for a bit after, and she got lots of great treats for being so well behaved. She posed in her harness, let all the kids pet her and even gave a few kisses!
