7:30 am. -8 degrees. Tours have slowed down since the Christmas rush, leaving some days with only afternoon tours, which leaves the mornings for chores and lots of snuggles with the dogs. In the afternoons, they are fresh and ready to go. As we haven’t had a lot of snow, the trail is pretty hard-packed and guests are having problems keeping sleds go. Likewise, the dogs are having problems wanting to pace themselves with so much energy and muscle!
Our afternoon tour consisted of myself, Beagle and Brian. We had one area where a guest tipped their sled and greated a huge gouge in the corner of the trail, so I stood there and pushed the dogs to the outside of the trail. Everyone survived nicely and the trip went really smoothly.
Kris is getting his dogs ready for a weekend training trip in Wycolo with his qualifier for the Idiarod coming up next week. The dogs look great and seem to know they are destined for something special.
