6:30 am. 0 degrees.

Christmas was frosty and I took my sister, her fiance and our friends out for a dog sled with the old timers. Alma Rose was put in and she pulled beautifully the whole way. We managed the -10 degrees with wind chill and were able to get home in time to manage a delicious turkey dinner complete with chocolate cake and pecan pie and some good wine!

Saturday, The day warmed up briefly, but the air stayed so cold ice crystals floated past me all morning. Despite the cold, it was beautiful with the sun shining and everything sparkling around.

E-bear and I had our first tours together while Beagle finally made it out on a couple of rounds with Stu-bird. Seems like all went well. We had a couple of people tip over, but they were at the back, so E-bear was able to grab them.

I tipped my sled on its side, which Kris wasn’t sure if it was possible, but I told him it really wasn’t that difficult. I got sucked into some soft snow on the side of the trail and tried to gun the snowmobile to get it out, but that rolled it over. Apparantly I didn’t get the memo about not gunning the new snowmobiles as they are too heavy and powerful to get out. I need to learn controlled throttling (maybe the memo will come out next week for that one.)

Stinging fingers after hooking up the dogs in the morning, but adrenaline and heated handle bars helped. E-bear helped me tip the sled up and we got back on track!
