It was chilly this morning. Back to old jacket which in a previous life was baby blue and now is various shades of tan. I heard boiling it in coffee for three hours is the only way to dye it without harmful chemicals. I will be buying coffee tomorrow.
Today it was me, Stubird, Joel and Bill, which left me the task of harnesses. I got them laid out in some semblance of an order and we set off with Stubird in front with a puppy named Jane in lead with Courtney. Jane decided she would rather turn around and see who’s behind her than lead. After that got straightened out, she decided to visit the team next to her and get them riled up. We switched her out and put two veteran leaders up – Vera and Cookie. Things went more smoothly from there.
The second team had a tangle with Turbo which was to be expected, however since I only had to pull him off the line once to fix his harness, it wasn’t too bad. Admiral and a couple other dogs chewed their necklines and we’re running out so had to make a few on the fly.
I had Pinto paired up with Admiral third down the line. Pinto is a puppy and has to run on the right. Admiral is about six and likes to jump to the right every time we stop, which meant a lot of trying to fix dogs today. Eventually switched Admiral out with Joon, who doesn’t care where she runs. Things went fairly smoothly after that.
On the second go-round we took out the old timers. Alma ran next to her new boyfriend Wesson. She’s a good runner, stays on her side and the team ran well. I’ve been fascinated by ears and Benny’s ears look like they are doing jumping jacks, flopping up to touch on top of his head, then flopping back down. Tyson didn’t want to turn around today, so that took a bit of practice and Bill was ahead of me and not sure what to do as he hadn’t done that before, so a little hectic, but all in all it was okay.
Got through feeding and I ran off to my next job.
