7:30 am. 5 degrees.

Tried out a new North Face jacket that was described as a great sweater layer for summit expeditions on places like Denali and Everest, which I figured would be a great outer layer for Colorado. Not quite. As my boss said, it looks like a great mountaineering layer and looks fancy, but not so great for standing around in freezing temperatures.

We had a new guy Joel start today. He works over at the ranch of the family who owns the property we have our kennel on. He seems like a hard worker, but as Spanish is his first language, I’ll have to come up with more creative ways of communicating.

Things were smoother than usual which is always the case when Kris is there. He layed out harnesses and we got off in good time. Stew led off, I was in the middle and Kris and Joel behind us. We got back, got turned around and headed back out with Joel alone on the middle fourwheeler. Thankfully everything went smoothly. After going through food, water and poop we called it a day.
