What a Day

7:00 am – 32 degrees – Sun shining and finally a day cold enough to run the dogs. The last few days have hit 50+ degrees by 7:00 am and would be too hot for the dogs to run. As we harness and hook up the dogs to their lines, the front line snaps and the lead dog, Holland takes off down the trail unaware the rest of the team isn’t behind her. Eitan takes off after her in the four wheeler. Kris and I change the line, bring one of my lead dogs over to his team and he takes off out of the kennel. As I’m about to follow with my team, a dog’s quick link breaks and she decides to join us. She lingers briefly with my team then speeds up to run about 15 feet in front of Kris’ team.

Eitan finds Holland and has her with him on the four wheeler. Kris adds her to the team and Eitan takes Love back to the kennel with him. My team is running well. The sun is shining and the day warming up quickly. Somehow Kris gets so far ahead of me I lose him. I take the old route and only end up at the kennel minutes before he gets back. Not sure how we ended up so slowly but the dogs ran well. Went on to feed and water dogs before heading home.
